Development: For quite a while Saudi which is led by the Sunni has accused Iran which is led by the Shia of supporting and backing the rebels in Yemen. The Iranians were quick to deny the accusations against them. Thus far the air strikes have ended yet there is still a lot of tension and although there are political solutions being sought the Saudi defense has affirmed that use of military force will still be applicable if considered necessary. There is still civil unrest within Yemen and the rebels still have control of the capital.Analysis: The tension between Saudi and Yemen is rather delicate and if not handled and managed well could easily drift back into war. Iran’s intentions as well as the United States are questionable. Immediately after calling for humanitarian assistance in Yemen, Iran was quick to send cargo believed to be weaponry. The United States also sent two warships claiming to be ensuring safety and ease of navigation while also watching out for the Iranian cargo vessels. The United State government has shown interest in the Iranian nuclear program and is probably looking for ways to impose sanctions on the state. Retrieved from.
