According to President Bush appointed directors in the Office of Homeland Security after 9/11 attacks. The new office located in the White House was to oversee and coordinate a comprehensive national strategy to safeguard the country against any future terror attacks. The new department integrated all 22 different Federal departments and agencies in a single unified entity. The Homeland Security Advisory System allows the government officials to communicate the nature and degree of terrorist attacks. The protective measure that corresponds to each threat will help local governments and citizens decide on best actions to respond to terrorist activity. The Citizens Corps have increased roles in the state and local government to protect their homeland and support local first responders. The purpose of Citizen Corps is to help coordinate volunteer activities to the society safe and respond better to emergencies. Citizen Corps provides opportunities for people to participate in ensuring people do not have anxiety due to terror threats. The Community Emergency Response Team program administers education to the citizens concerning disaster preparedness and trains them in basic disaster response skills such as light search, disaster medical operations, and fire safety. The United States on Watch includes a nationwide network of Neighborhood Watch Program that provides training to the citizens and law enforcement agencies in the country. The Medical Reserve Corps strengthens communities by assisting public health and other volunteers to offer expertise on a long-term basis to the community in need. The federal Department of Health and Human Services administers the program in the entire nation. The field of Homeland Security is dynamic and evolves to impact public officials in the local and state governments in the nation. Currently, United States has a new national warning system, National Terrorism Advisory System, community, and regional citizen groups that actively involved in emergency management, assisting first responders, and homeland security.
