This article gives some ideas of what this would be like and will fit into the last aspects of my paper.This is a discussion of how alcohol and drugs influence crime and which crimes are committed. The authors have created a scientific study of how drugs and crime work and they have given a thorough study. Chapter 5 details the drug and crime connection and how they work together to create problems in the community. Chapter 7 gives a more in-depth view of the causes of crime which they found from interviewing people who were incarcerated. Chapter 8 talked about how interventions work and whether they are worth pursing.This book seems to give more in-depth information to my research through scientific means. The authors have done a lot of work around drugs, alcohol and crime and this information seems to fit in with other statistical information that I have found. Their concentration is on research that has been done in Great Britain which again draws the fact that poverty and crime is a global problem together.Crime is seen in the media as something that is interesting and exciting. It talks about the attitudes that Americans have towards crime and how it is glorified in the media. Chapter one gives an overview of crime statistics and what public opinion says about crime and how most people fear crime. Chapter 3 discusses how the media is to blame for everyone being afraid that they will become a victim of crime. Chapter 5 gives the results of a survey that the authors did explaining the "three strikes" sentencing (saying that after a person commits 3 felonies they automatically get a stiff sentence).This book gives good information about how the media affects the way people see crime and deal with it. It gives another side of my research in developing another "reason" for criminal behavior: It could be that people perceive that crime will happen to them and therefore look for it to happen. This author seems a bit biased but the statistics and the opinions of people will add to my research as the book also has a scientific base.Juveniles are more likely to commit crimes in certain situations especially when they are poor. This author analyzes why society has moved from seeing juveniles as "misguided youth" to charging them as adults for crime and sending them to adult prisons. Myers is an associate professor of
