Hypermodernism and Its Affect on Contemporary World

Characteristics of Hyper Modernism And How Have They Affected Our Contemporary World Hyper modernism is a point insociety where modernity is reflected on in an intensification and deepening way. In some cases it is also referred to as super modernity. Hyper modernism is different from modernism in that it is more committed to having an ability to improve freedom and choice of a person (Orr 150). Hyper modernism is characterized by a number of features. They are emphasis in science and biology, ability of human beings to control, manipulate and understand every aspect of humanity. Finally it also focuses on the use of new technology to triumph over limitations of life (Gronstad 56).
For example, in the film matrix, characters in the normal world posses no special abilities or powers. But when they are connected to the computer world they posses super abilities where they can move in very high speeds. This displays both hyper reality and unreality. The characteristic of hyper modernism which is the power of technology is expressed in this movie as the computer world helps change the real world.
Another example of a movie where hyper modernism is used is in the film inception. Characters are induced into a dream world which is like a reality. The use of science as characterized by hyper modernism is the core of this movie (Johnson 78). This is because, the film depicts a time when science has discovered a way in which one person can enter another person’s dream and be part of it. As in the matrix film both unreality and hyper reality are displayed in the movie since the film depicts human abilities that are far greater than normal ones and the existence of a world that in reality does not exist.
