Technologies are made benign to tread the soft path of human welfare – the “soft energy path”. The new environmentally benign technologies are helping the small organic farmers create the niche and becoming prosperous. People living on the margins can live healthily, get an education and improve their standard particularly made possible through the use of ICT. Technology needs to be deployed as a total systems solution. The use of solar technology can be made to ease things for the poorest. There is need to use applied basic science and the right technology to bring under rein the destructive changes in agriculture. The modern farming techniques like green manures and integrated pest management should be provided where they are needed the most. Technology has been developed with the benign purpose of reducing fuel spending by using LED lighting elements, using solar energy. Technology helps in reducing the barrier between the rich and the poor (http://guptaoption.com/).“What are the environmental implications of increasing human life expectancy?”Increase in human life expectancy has deeper environmental implications. Each individual needs food, which needs to be grown more to fulfill the human hunger needs. For that more agricultural land is needed or some other sources to sustain the population growth, which is increasing due to increased life expectancy. Increased life expectancy will aggravate environment pollution. Due to limited land available for food production, it will have to bear the extra burden on resources like energy, fuels, land, and water. A large number of people won’t be earning their livelihood and would be dependent on those earning. It would reduce the overall earning potential of families because all members are not earning /> “We are facing shortages of all sorts of resources around the world. Food shortages are one commodity area that has been in the news lately. What are some ways we can expand our food supply without damaging the environment further?”
