Piracy And Plagiarism. Another significant effect of piracy is the increased release of counterfeit movies with low quality. This dents the reputation of movie makers. However, if a consumer acquires a counterfeit movie they may not create a negative perception of the movie maker since they may understand the circumstances of which the movie was accessed. But, production of counterfeit movies of low quality does allow the consumer to capture the real creativity and effort of the maker of the movie. The perception of the consumer on the movie maker may be influenced by the quality of the movie they watch. The developing popularity of the internet as a source of information has increased the need to develop effective electronic policing frameworks.

Consequently, the ease at which information can be accessed has increased the cases of creation of counterfeit and copied information. For this reason, the creation of electronic policing mechanisms improves the level at which copied information may be used. For instance, increased cases of plagiarism in schools have prompted the development of electronic policing sites that monitor works submitted by students to academic institutions. Does electronic policing curb the increasing plagiarism cases? Are the policies necessary for academic institutions? It is necessary for works submitted by students to be checked for plagiarism. It increases their ability to take part in research activities and develop original ideas and information (Eisner &Vicinus 55). However, one may point out that the availability of information for students on the internet increases their tendency to develop plagiarized works. The argument may not justify plagiarism since the real intent of internet scholars may not be providing an opportunity for students to copy the information they publish. The effectiveness of anti-plagiarism software has been questioned for their suitability and appropriateness. The software is created with the ability to detect plagiarism if the writer copies three consecutive words (Eisner &Vicinus 65). By editing copied material, one can easily avoid detection. However, the software has increased the ability to consider publishing original information. The tendency to use copied information has not been altered due to the ease at which detection may be evaded. The use of the software in academic institutions may minimize the abilities of students to refer to already published works.
