Analysis of CCTV and Evaluation of Its Effectiveness as an International Media. CCTV is the major television broadcaster in China, is National television broadcast station of the Peoples Republic of China, and is the Chinese important news public opinion organization, is the party, the government and peoples important mouthpiece. Starting with just as a single evening, CCTV now has 16 channels, most of them being run 24-hours. In addition, CCTV has High Definition Channel, HD Channel that airs western programs like CSI and Lost among others, as well as various Chinese series and documentaries. CCTV’s main attraction is the 30-minute evening news, Xinwen Lianbo, which broadcasts updates on the Chinese governments work in China as well as its interaction with foreign visitors or countries.

(Xiguang, 2003)The main competitors of CCTV are the other local and regional channels like BTV1, and also the foreign channels that are received via satellite. The 16 channels of CCTV cater to different genres of programs while at the same time carrying some similar and overlapping content. The channels can be listed as BTV - Beijing. Television Station is another channel which has the influence and competitive power of mainstream media in China. BTV channel quality and quantity, the technical level, and the management of income creation are top rated in China. Out of these only two channels, CCTV-4 and CCTV 9 are available internationally. CCTV 4 has been further divided into CCTV International Asia, CCTV International Europe, and CCTV International America to provide customized coverage to its audiences. CCTV- 9 is also available in the United States, Barbados, The UK, Spain, France, and Canada. In addition, TVU networks allow CCTV 1, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 9 to be viewed as peer-to-peer internet feeds.CCTV-9 or CCTV International, launched in 2000, is the English Channel by China Central Television. It is a news, entertainment, and educational channel and is a major source of international and local news and cultural information for the English speaking Chinese in China as well as in other parts of the world. .
