“The Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986” or IRCA is one such act worth mentioning here which clearly warns against hiring people residing illegally in the US (Fuqua 214). All employers are required to check the legal documents of their employees before selecting them. However, illegal immigrants still continue to be hired because provision of myriad social services serves to encourage them. This puts a strain on the US economy because the rights of many US citizens have been compromised. The rate of social services received by illegal immigrants should be reduced because this can act as an effective deterrent to a number of complex issues created by illegal immigration.Provision of free public education to children of illegal immigrants is one of many social services received by them. While this service is commended by some, it is also questioned by many. The government should not provide free public education to children of illegal immigrants because this not only encourages them to come to the country, but also increases the number of challenges encountered by the local population and legal migrants. Illegal immigrants cannot be expected to care whether their status is legal or illegal as long as being illegal does not deprive them of many rights which are enjoyed by legal residents. In times characterized by economic crisis, our government also has to arrange for food and see to other needs of illegal immigrants. It is due to such a burden imposed on economy that research claims that illegal immigration “will continue to have a significant impact on all U. institutions, from schools to the labor force, to media and politics, to health care” (De las Fuentes cited in Farberman). Provision of free education to children of illegal immigrants is also ethically wrong because this means funding their education with the money of the law abiding and tax-paying legal residents.Concluding, illegal immigration is a kind of issue which is entrenched in the roots of the US and poses many challenges for the government. Social services received by illegal immigrants should be strictly controlled by effective implementation of different policies made for the illegal immigrants. Illegal immigration and economy are inextricably linked to one another as a rising number of illegal immigrants has put a growing strain on the US economy. Social services granted by the
