John Dalton's Atomic Theory
There was no change in mass whenever a reaction occurred. This is explained also in Dalton’s theory, that if there are the same numbers of atoms before the reaction and after then the masses should be same (Hogg 2014). Another experiment was by Louis (1754-1826). He stated that whenever a compound was purified, it always had the same elements in the same mass ratio. Dalton explains this by stating that the total mass of the materials present after any chemical reaction is the mass present
