The authorities wanted to establish a business venture that promotes environment-friendly activities. On the other hand, the government and various individuals in the region thought of establishing a national conservancy in the region. In 1987, Gaylord and his neighbors established the Prairie Holdings Corporation with the aim of purchasing Prairie Crossing. The organization purchased and initiated various projects on the land, which promoted environment-friendly activities (Prairiecrossing. The organization decided on constructing houses alongside organic farming on the land. Prairie green community ensures minimal pollution by engaging in various green activities. After the death of Gaylord, his nephew, George Ranney Jr. took over the projects presidency. The establishment is a pure business venture that incorporates various environment conservancy activities.The main philosophy guiding the establishment of the Prairie Crossing is the establishment of a profitable environment friendly venture in the society. The founders of the venture focused of establishing a purely green community on the land. The residents are encouraged to engage in activities that reduce pollution and promote the health of the plantation. In addition, the construction activities in the region do not interfere with the natural setting of the environment. This minimal interference with the environment is crucial in enhancing effective coexistence of humans and the nature. The residents in various households have access to the farm and the wetlands. The project also entails conservation of water resources by purifying floodwater for consumption by the residents in the establishment (Apfelbaum, Eppich, Price & Sands, 1995).There are ten guiding principles in the establishment and control of the Prairie Crossing. The first principle is to facilitate enhancement and protection of the environment. The main of establishing the crossing was to protect the open spaces. The project incorporates houses greenways to protect the environment, wildlife and native vegetation. Secondly, the project promotes a healthy lifestyle. The Prairie farm entails organic farming that is essential for healthy living. In addition, the landscape and design of the land provide adequate space for residents to engage in outdoor exercises.
