At Home on the Earth

At Home on the Earth. The greatest fear that a person can have is deadening of the mind and heart which is in tune with the way we respond to what is happening to the world around us. Macy and Brown (1998) elaborate these words and the need to raise an alarm to the destruction of the world that has been entrusted to us since creation. And they not only explain how we directly impact the environment but also, the dangers we pose to ourselves for failing to act. From that insight, it is convincing enough to argue that human culture on nature begins with “appreciating creation and having a conscious mind on the activities we can choose in life to ensure that we have a livable world”(Macy & Brown, 1998). In other words, we all have a responsibility to prevent the destruction of the environments such as reducing pollution and wastage of water, pollution of land, proper disposal of garbage in safe bins, and so on.

Therefore, the choice of food also relies on the concept of ethics, which as Macy and Brown (1998)defines, refers to “how people are able to distinguish right and wrong.”Therefore, in caring for the environment and our health, the most important concept that one should understand and put in mind is environmental ethics. These are the most basic lessons that I have learned from the class of environmental ethics, which has changed me in many aspects of caring for nature. I have taken a step to apply ethics to my dietary need. I am interested in clubs and schools that support the protection of the environment from pollution. And some my goal in this essay will be to convince people and athletes to replace meat eating with plant-based proteins.
Scientists have been at the frontline telling people how pollution on planet Earth will one day destroy the entire civilization, which is very true, but there is also the essence of what we do to ourselves more than what we do to the environment, as McGann (2012) explains, “what people eat tells how much they give back to the nature.”.
