The article defines education as a process that involves the acquisition of a number of abilities including knowledge, skills, and experiences. The article further recognizes the impact of social environments in the learning process. Interest in education during adulthood is determined by a number of factors including potential opportunities, the need to learn new things and one’s degree of openness to fresh experiences (Aging Longevity, Nd). The article further claims that there are many aims for which individuals opt for education during adulthood. Some of these include economic growth, to enhance innovative potential, to boost self determination and to enhance personal employability. The article further notes that lifespan development is a continuous process that involves coping up with developmental tasks. These tasks include chances, challenges and demands (Aging Longevity, Nd). Aging Longevity further claims that successful coping with current situation increases one’s potential to cope with future tasks while at the same time initiating further development. The article generally provides information that mesh well with those of other theorists. For one, it is almost common knowledge that learning or education is a continuous process (Hoare, 2006). Furthermore, it is in agreement with many a life span development theorist that even during adulthood, positive development occurs. Such developments indeed affect the individual later in life in so far as personal health, life satisfaction and contribution to society is concerned (Demick & Andreoletti, 2003).
